Renovation of Cross Hills Public Toilets
We are delighted that the full renovation of Cross Hills Public Toilets will commence Summer 2024. This follows consultation and extensive planning to reach a design that is environmentally conscious, meets the needs of the local area and is fit for the future.
The refurbished facilities will:
- Be fully accessible
- Be visually appealing
- Provide outside covered seating
- Significantly improve running costs against the current facilities
- Provide high quality facilities for residents, visitors and those passing through
The scheme will include key features to maximise efficiency and reduce running costs. Incorporating solar panels and rainwater harvesting equipment into the design will allow for significant operating cost savings and carbon reduction. The existing building will be largely demolished, and rebuilt with differing layout and design, to improve accessibility and meet the requirements of a modern day facility. Stone from the existing building will be reused.
To the outside will be an attractive seating area with local artist mural, providing a further visually appealing communal space in the village.
This project is supported through a £68,000 grant from North Yorkshire Shared Prosperity Fund.
The project also supports the North Yorkshire Council Climate Change Strategy 2023-2030.
As construction work begins and progresses, we will post further updates.
